Job Purpose

To ensure accurate measurement, analysis, and control of production costs within the manufacturing process, enabling efficient operations and informed decision-making. The role supports the business by monitoring cost drivers, improving profitability, and reducing waste while maintaining strong financial controls and inventory accuracy.

 

Key Responsibilities

Maintain and analyse cost data for financial reporting and decision-making

Prepare cost sheets and determine product pricing and profitability

Support New Product Development (NPD) with product costing

Compare actual vs standard manufacturing costs and report variances

Monitor and evaluate production performance and cost efficiency

Analyse cost drivers such as raw materials, labour, and production methods

Prepare regular reports on financial performance and cost trends

Maintain and manage the cost accounting system

Assist with month-end processes, stock control and inventory counts

Maintain the cost accounting system and ensure data accuracy

 

Qualification Requirements      

Grade 12 with Mathematics and Accounting

Qualification in Cost & Management Accounting (Diploma/Degree)

 

Experience Requirements          

Strong Computer skills

Experience with SYSPRO system

Experience in food manufacturing industry

Skills and Competencies

Strong understanding of cost accounting principles and manufacturing processes

Knowledge of inventory control, stock management, and cost systems

Ability to analyse financial and sales data and produce meaningful reports

Understanding of pricing, costing models, and profitability analysis

Familiarity with accounts payable processes (PO, GRN, accruals)

Awareness of food industry trends and market dynamics

Advanced analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills

Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work across teams
