Minimum Required Qualification:

Level 4: Grade 12 (National Senior Certificate) and National Cert level 4 Trade and Occupational Qualifications Manufacturing, Engineering and Technology

At least 3 years risk and safety management experience, as well as administration knowledge within a mining, services or processing environment

Be in possession of a blasting ticket (UG mining) or engineering qualification (Trade)

The Appointee should:

Grade 12 or equivalent NQF 4 qualifications with English literacy

Medically fit to work in the specific business area.

Clear security screening record.

Clear credit record

Valid driver’s license (if applicable).

Additional Requirements:

NQF 5 qualification in Risk Management i.e. Fundamentals of Risk Management (IRCA), Risk assessment techniques and facilitation (Train the Trainer) will be advantages

Project management experience will be advantages

Key Responsibilities:

Administration • Manages all relevant data received through Health and Safety reports, screening and profiles by gathering, monitoring, manipulating, collating and analysing data based on experience and knowledge of the function. • Presents information to management in the form of reports and provides advice based on specialist knowledge by compiling reports-based information received, scrutinizing submitted reports from the Operation and providing feedback. • Attends and participates in meetings by providing required information based on acquired knowledge and experience. • Keeps abreast of latest relevant Health and Safety developments, innovations and technologies by means of liaising with other sources and by attending meetings on a regular basis. • Assists with the maintenance and updates of relevant policies, procedures and regulations in line with current trends and developments and based on own specialist knowledge. • Ensures that costs are controlled and wastage of resources is eliminated by working within prescribed budgets. Reports deviations to Supervisor. • Performs any other activities necessary for the effective completion of his / her work. Building a values-based organisational culture • Actively support and meaningfully participate in the execution of the segment specific organisational development plan. This support will manifest in the targeted shift in culture as described by a valid culture assessment. ESG Compliance • SA Gold Operations: Align to Work Gold Council (WGC) responsible mining principles. • SA PGM Operations: Enhance Together for Sustainability (eTfS) initiative. SHE Compliance • Maintain and comply with SHE standards within the work environment. • Participate in risk assessments and investigate and take appropriate action as per identified risks. • Ensure adherence to all company policies and procedures. SHE Management: • Instil a culture of SHE leadership within the department. Quality Management System (QMS): • Maintain department’s documents. • Comply with requirements of the Quality Management System. Focus on safe production & operational excellence • Focus on safety and health as well as operational excellence • Improve our position on global industry cost curve People Management • Provide coaching and on-the-job training to reporting staff. • Manage performance and development of reporting staff. • Ensure fair work allocation for team members. • Inspire team members towards high performance.
